WEB Question..... Hosting?

Can someone explain to me the pros and cons on Hosting your own site vs. paying someone to host the site for you? (Very Important... I work with a company thats hosting their own site, but it seems to be a pain, plus we can't get statistics on traffic to the site and so on) Any information will be greatly Appreciated!!! THX:confused:

I've hosted my own websites using XAMPP and just my plain ol' PC. Works great if you're technical and know what you're doing.
As for web statistics, that's easy to get really. All you have to do is create your own script using any server-side programming language, I recommend PHP because XAMPP has it built in and it's easy to learn (IMO).

It really depends on what you are most comfortable with. If you're tech savvy enough to be dangerous, but not a coding wiz, I'd choose a hosting company. The pros of going with a company is that if there ever is an emergency or you need technical support, you've got it. :)

The pros to hosting your own is really customization. You can tailor it to be whatever you need/want/like. Although these days most hosting companies offer those options as well. I'd say, assess your comfort level, do a little research, and go with what works best for you.

right.. so im done with the domain name question.. im here now for the paid web hosting service.....

in the paid web hosting service subscription, is there a 1 month or 2 months subscription? because i just want the site on the internet for a month or two.. is there a kind os service? if yes, can you give me the web address so that i can sign up? thx
