DVD requires MPEG 2 media files. However There are several easy authoring softwares available. One of them is Sony DVD Architect. But this is a commercial softwarware. If you can convert QT to AVI, then you can use Ulead DVD Movie Factory as well. This is a commercial software as well, but a cheaper one.

Most, if not all, of the DVD burners available to the public will come bundled with some kind of DVD authoring software. While the software bundled with the burners won't give you the tools that professionals have, they are all capable of producing your basic DVD quality movies to burn. If you have a dvd burner without authoring software, then I would recommend software titles available from Roxio and Ulead.

I use Adobe Encore DVD to transfer my stuff to DVD. First I use After Effects to export the movie out as an MPEG, then I import the MPEG into Encore. Once in Encore I burn it to a DVD. You can convert your quicktime files into MPEG's directly in Encore, but the conversion process seems to take a while. I think it's faster just to import them in as MPEG's from the start. I used a tutorial from the manual to get me started and it was pretty easy from there. The program is rather costly at $549, but I got it at the student price of $249. Depending on how much you're willing to shell out, it may be more cost effective to use the software that comes bundled with the DVD burner.
