Thanks guys.:P
Danimation Re: the book it's gooing pretty good. I'm on the tail end of issue 2 and gearing up for issue 3. I always thought this was easier than animation but i guess everything has it easy and hard points. Go figure.
Sorry to hear that the book u worked on got only to ish 2. R u a bit relived that u can go back to animation or where u looking forward to doing static illustrations? Personally me i'm looking forward to doing some animation and not doing so many clean and detailed animation. I guess when i hit clean up it will be the same thing thou right?
Ok here is mine for today. I've been able to keep my new years res so far. but i guess i really shouldn't pat my self on the back it hasn't even been a week. I'm so fickle :P

Yo D! I laughed when I read your daily. Sketch daily, sketch! LOL! To be honest, comics aren't my thing. I'll take animating any day! Speaking of which the owner of the book decied to make it a cartoon, so they're pumping out a seasons worth of 3d stuff. Should be cool to see! I've gotta get started on my daily now! Cheers

Thanks for the cool comments guys, really apprecaite it.
Hey Doubt, Yeah i have read it. I was collecting the paper backs for a while but ended loosing track of where i left off. I think o was near the end. Damn i really want to find out how that stroryline ended. Next time i go the comic convention near me i'll make sure to look it up.
Well here is my new one for today. Another concept for the cover. I still have one in my head stuck that i'll try and get out tomorrow.
http://www.damagecomics.com/Lionel/AshesIssue2CoverConcept003a.jpg
Now this one i did a while back at work. The people brought in a horrible picture of the man, and it was a 3/4 shot too with him wearing a hat. Man it was going to be one of those days that u hate. My boss wanted me to garentee the work but i told him like hell. Surprinsingly tho it turned out pretty good and the client loved it. Needless to say that day being able to draw came in handy :P

Great stuff. The Joker is my favorite. The whole picture just looks like it deserves to be on a cover of one of the comics. I think you've just inspired me to try an interpretation of VENTRILOQUIST/SCARFACE. I don't know why I was always so intrigued with that character.
Looking forward to seeing more.

Hey guys thanks for the cool commments.
Bri, thanks man i like drawing zombies and especially those. The last one i did didn't give me that feeling of just existing and attacking when bothered. I think it's in the pupils.
Skeksil, The reason I'm trying to draw manga is just to vary my style some. Long ago when i was trying to get gigs in animation people we're telling me that i was too disney. I know it sure doesn't look like it now but trust me they were kind of right. I'll try to post some of them so u guys can see.
Kal ur right about one being from Fred vs Jason. The movie was ok not much there other then alot of hype but Jason is still my favorite.
Ok here is mine for today. I saw Danimations and it inspired me to do my own. I'm not into the cutesy thing but here we go.

I didn't like this sketch as much. I didn't really measure it out on the page before i started to clean it up some and had to really make the legs fit. Oh well that's why they r sketches right.

Hey Phack thanks and blood thirty cupids is the only way to go. Watch out for him cause he comes around every year. He is a persistant little bugar.
hey Green, no i never went to school for comic illustrations. I actually got started doing underground comics way back in high school and have been doing them on and off with that same friend to this date. I actually prefer to animate way more than doing comics but comics r sometimes faster... sometimes hahahahah(as I stare at the pages on my desk at the moment)
Here r some for today
the busty goth girl i did at Wizard World La when it got slow and i was able to sketch.

the next 2 pages were inspired by Brien on these forums here. I had to come up with something for a flash assingment i have in class at the moment and i had just finished seeing Bri's little flash movies and and i was like man i haven't drawn cartoony in a while so i gave it a try again. I want to try and do what Bri is doing and get more facial expressions like he did but damn it's hard. So here they go.

I maneged to get the next step in this before the weekend ended. I'm pretty happy with the way it's coming out. Well they r only more rough poses to flush out the action but it is one more small step to the finish line. :D I ended taking out the last pose as it i felt that it did not work well. Hi Damage,
Well if I tell you my secret don't let it get around hahaha.
What I first did was I went to a few of the local clubs and asked if I could do drawings. They didn't mind as long as I had the permission of the dancers. (god the research was so exhausting) The real kick was after a few visits I never had to pay for a lap dance any more.(so very true)ha!
(note) I learned to draw by touch and go too..................:D

Hey Dream thanks for ur comments. Man o man o my i don't know what to tell u about the cintiq. Other than it's a must have. I've been drooling over this piece of equipment since i first heard of it last year. I then got a chance to try it out at this year siggraph and oh man just like heaven. I luved it soo much that i didn't want to leave the booth and my boss who i went with had to pull me away from it.Hahah good times. I luved it soo much that i conviced one of my other bosses to call up the lady to come in to the office and do a demo for us. Again when she came in i hogged it as much as I could. The lady had to leave and i was already animating stuff in it. Hahahaha i lub the cintiq. So much soo that it's a big item that i'm saving up for. The sad thing is that when the lady came in to demo it she mentioned to us that the waiting period had gone up from 8 weeks back order to 12, I swear i wanted to cry. My thoughts that as soon as i have enough money for it i still have to wait to get it.:( .... OOOOhhhhh welll....Geese ok i'll have to stop my ramblings.

Hey Dream, when i used it, it was awsome. It didn't have a glass top to draw on it has and acrylic plastic type top. Which is cool cause combined with the pen and it kick arse tips it feels just natural. Totally comfortable. The touch stips on the sides r customizable to whatever shortcuts u want to put on them so even if u don't liket he short cuts they have on there u can always change them. I don't quite understand what u mean by tool? If u mean the pen itself, it's way better than what i use now which i my little graphir pen and tablet. Hahaha it does the job right. I've been thinking recently if i should go ahead and buy myself an intouse untill i get the Cintiq but i think i'll just end up saving my pennies to get that. I played with one of the intouse at my local apple store and it is alot better than the graphire that i have. I just want that cintiq soo much that i just hold off rough it.Hahah rough yeah right huh. Also alot of apps that i use are already set up for the wacome so the cintiq shuld fit right in when i get it.
Ok now for todays update I've finished the robot and the bg. I tone down the bg from the last post as i felt it was fighting with the robot. I'm now on the last leg of this I need the debris that the girl is hiding behind and her herself. I look forward to doing these. I guess that is why i try to do the bg first as i don't want to lose interest in the end and just put some crappy bg. Hahhah good time right. I hope to finish this this weekend and the go back to recrating and finishing the alice animation i was working on.

Oh, so this was done in Painter. Dammit, I'd like a chance to get into that program. I downloaded a demo of Painter X but quickly abandoned all attempts to use it; it's hopless without a tablet and light pen. How much for a decent one these days? If only my drawing room wasn't so darned small! It's been far too long since I last used a paint brush. I just can't risk ruining my light table with acryllics ...

Amazing, truly amazing.
The beast-thingy is looking really good, and so does the background.
I love to watch great artists' works when they do it in painter, it always seems to come out great - yours has too, and I'm really looking forward seeing the outcome!
The new girl you sketched looks better in my opinion, she's got a more expressive look on her face, and to tell the truth, she looks better, haha. Good work, as allways. I bet you that the girl and the pile of things will look as good as the beast :D

Thanks for the comps and input i really appreciate it.
This was a pain in the but, it was hard and my first digital painting. Oh hey Jab the painting was done in Ps not painter. Some of the sketches i did to loosen up were done in painter.
Well what can i say, the girl was the hardest part of it all. She was fun but hard as hell. She also didn't come out quite the way i wanted her but hey. Hopefully things will go my way in the next one i undertake.

Mmmh, yes, a bit. My problem is that my stylus tends to be a little jumpy when I draw selections and so forth, for which I blame the fact that my elbow isn't resting on a surface. Then again, maybe I just need to adjust the contact recognition.

Jabberwocky: You hit it right on the nose. That was one of the things that was buggin me. So i aged them up a bit to see if i liked them. For the younger faces if i pick one i might use it for her alter ego.
cartuneman: Thanks i'm glad u like. No I'm just searching right now to see if I can find the right face for her. Kind of like casting the perfect actor for the part of your movie in a way. The ones i don't pick i mgiht use for supporting characters if i like em enough.

Whooo, drawing pretty girls - I really hated that as a child and tried to avoid it whenever possible. Maybe it takes an adult and "appreciative" eye to catch the subtleties of prettiness, heheh.
I like the new sketches, too, a lesson in facial design. They're all good to me, but also very different. I'm curious since you know her, which one would you say captures her character best?
Sketch A to me looks like the head and face of a very slim and young person, partly because of the long and slender neck, A1 and A2 looking more mature which maybe works better for a buxom super-heroine.
Sketch B radiates innocense, large eyes and petite nose. Maybe carefully adding a little to the bridge of her nose might add some structure to the forehead area. (Just a thought.) B1 and B2 - more mature again, definitely on the hawt side.
Sketch C has something of a classic, somewhat full-faced beauty to me. C1 and C2 develop into what seems to me like a harsher and older version, probably because the facial silhouette gains straightness from downplaying the cheekbone, and the smaller eyes and elongated the nose.
You wrote something about her alter ego - so is she the kind of super-heroine who is outwardly the exact opposite of her heroine self?
thee_nethken

Jabberwocky: Thanks for your input, I really appreciat it. It helps decide and i also like to hear others take on it. Oh and yes that is my thought on Miss A Bomb. When she becomes here is is more confident, not at first though this only happends after she kind of grows to know her capeabilities. Kind of like Peter Parker.

Yes, but Benny Hill is a cooler idea. I used to watch him a lot, too, in my teens. I also remember the day it was in the papers they found him dead in his apartment, sitting in front of the still running TV set. I don't know but even though it didn't make me particularly sad it's moments like that which make me realize time passes.
Who said women can't draw sexy women
Indeed, whoever said that? That's really one cute face in the third sketch. Not one I'd use for a super heroine of Miss A-Bomb's, hum, "calibre", but very endearing.

Ok i had a little too much fun with this one. One of my friends showed me this Artist art work Shane Glines and it inpired me to do versions of miss A Bomb in his style. I really like the way he draws hips and how simplified his style is. This type of style comes hard to me since i want to add all kinds of details. I do like the idea though and the style seems to lend itself to animation more so than what my style of drawing. Ok enough ranting i'm off to try and be a writer. Thanks Cartune, glad to have you back too. I hear you about the work. I barely get to animate anything and if i do it has to be really cheap. Sucks man, but it:o 's work i guess.

Palette, Thanks i'm glad you like.I used to drawing more action type characters but going back to silly cartoony look is always fun. I like tying to make them look as stupid as posible:D
Wow I'm tired, been boarding all day at work and i had to force my self to do something creative when i got home today. So I went ahead and blocked out the sword from the Joann tut.

Thank you Cobster.
It's been awhile and i actually have kept myself drawing and 3D_ing I just haven't had the time to post. Here is an Update :P
Here is my second assingment for Bobby Chiu. In this one all I had to do was colorize it so i didn't do the actual painting just color. It was fun though and now I can't wait to use this in my future comics.

Hello Damage, remember me, long time no post, I'm glad to see that you're doing some fantastic stuff, love those cowboys, I've kept myself busy writing a children’s book, hope to get it published (fingers crossed), also working on a website that I hope to launch in the next couple of months, I do have to mention that I couldn't view some of your jpegs that you posted. ???
Later,
