Hi!

Some sketches I did today, well, the first can hardly be called a sketch anymore, I think. I did it to improve on my drawing skill, well, yes, there's still a lot to learn.

The two following are character concepts for a short I'm doing. The boy is the most expressive, in contrast to the sister and brother, who show no emotions at all. The line of action has been a revelation for me! Now I can finally get some dynamics in my drawings (they used to be extremely stiff).

Hope you like it!

Rolf

A few more I did. The first two is a bit of a "cartoonised" version of me. With my trade mark scarf :) My mother knitted it for me because I complained that all the scarfs bought in the shops were way too short. And while she was knitting I always said, "No, too short, make it longer!!" It ended being longer than I am! It's so heavy now (because of the wool) it presses down on your shoulders so I can't wear it anymore (I get pain in my neck). Anyway, I like the look of it, and it's like a cartoon asset.

The woman is a life drawing I did last week in class.

The cartoon caricature is great, nice work on the colors! Cheers

Thanks! These two are more concept art for my new short. The second one was more to try out mood and colours. And the first one is a more evolved version of the brother and sister who, incidentally, have become the parents instead of his brother and sister.

Seeing all these people's work really inspires me to push my own designs. I'm usually someone who just doodles something quick and goes with that, but seeing all the designs here, I'm just going to take it a step further this time!

Nice stuff Rolf. Your work has a nice energy about it.
I think a lot of people share your feeling of the forum, myself included.

My very first attempt at a vehicle. Ahem... it shows how unsteady my hand can get when I'm drawing (or inking), especially my arcs are never nice, any tips?

Nice car Rolf...:) maybe u just have to adjust ur perspective...u may study in separate, how the cylinder will be (Tires) ...the cube will be(car parts) ...and everything.(the guy,the canon, canon stand), than put them together in the same perspective....it's the perspective study...try it...Good luck.. :)

How to you post images, it doesn't allow very big files to be uploaded? how do you get around this?????

Thanks Mamimator for the tips! Yes, it's the perspective thing, indeed. I find it strange, because, nine years ago in art classes (wow, has it been that long since my first classes? That was evening school by the way), I did a year doing only perspective drawings, and yet, I forgot how to do it apparently.

As I get around to uploading big files... ehm, I don't get around it. I just "save for the web..." in Photoshop and keep the file size below 30Kb. When you post a message you can scroll down and "manage attachments".
