Tools for pencil animation?

What basic tools would i need to do my open pencil animation. I've used Flash for a long time and eventually understand the program alot better but i want a more artistic approach, anyone got any ideas?

Well you can use pencil with flash, using trace bitmap (first turn up contrast on drawing), or even by importing the images as pngs and using them as is.

Yeah, if you already have Flash, that will work fine. Now all you would need is a scanner to scan your drawings and import them into Flash. You can even use Flash as an Ink and Paint system. There are other programs out there that are far better suited to doing this than Flash, but it works and you already have it, so draw away.
