Its perhaps less what you know and more what the job responsibilities are for the job you are applying, and are you qualified to take on those responsibilities?
Knowing something and being certified/qualified can be different things to different recruiters.
The animation biz is merit-based ( for the most part) so if you can DEMONSTRATE exceptional/accomplished skills then you can not only get the positions you want, but demand/negotiate the salary you desire.

What have you worked on before in industry?
Was it high or low profile?
Was it for a large company, or one that no-one's heard of?
What was your wage before in the past previous two years?
What are your skills like? Are you an accomplished draftsman, or just good with the digital tools?
Do you have a distinct design sense or some other unique trait to your work?
What do YOU bring to the table?

See, asking for guidelines on salary is tough because there are enough variables to make it hard to say WHAT you can ask and what you deserve to get paid.
The US digital arts market salary range can go from about $20K-$25K to perhaps as high as $150K, or more. It depends upon what you will be asked to do and whether or not you can do it well.

be a good artist, work hard, don't be a dick and you will go far. No one can deny good artwork, expecially if the person is good to work with/manage. Just cause you went to the best school and have something on ur wall that says ur 'certified' doesn't mean ur gonna get the job or the salary your 'supposed' to make.

a presto.
