I don't have a scanner, so I can't really submit daily sketches. I wait until I have a big enough batch of finished drawings and then I take them to a copyshop to scan them in. It's been awhile since I've done this, and I've uploaded all of the scanned drawings I have to at least one other place. I've got quite a few drawings in various states of completion, so I hope to be able to upload some new ones soon.

Thanks. Actually, I'm working with troubled teenagers and spending most of my time in the kitchen. It must be a punishment for something I did in another life. However, they agreed to let me animate during working hours. It will be used on their website.

I'll take a look at it. Thanks for asking, but I've got so many projects of my own that I never do challenges. They also seem too much like assignments to me. I still have nightmares about having to go back to high school to make up a gym requirement.

welp have fun making your animation :)
Fun? FUN??!! Animators don't have fun! They are artists! Driven to create! It's torment and ecstasy! Etc., etc.

This is a fairly simple example of interference patterns made by two sets of concentric circles. It's in the form of a flipbook. It can probably best be "flipped" by downloading and decompressing the PostScript file `intrfr_1.ps' and "flipping" it by opening it in Ghostview and holding down the "Page Down" button.

This is the PDF file:
http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/intrfr_1.pdf

The source code and the other files are here:
http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/circles.html#Interference_Patterns

There are lots of other interesting patterns that can be made in similar ways.

I've made a couple more examples of interference patterns. This time, I've made animated GIFs as well as flipbooks.

Animated GIFS: http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/intrfr_2.gif.gz
and
http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/intrfr_3.gif.gz

I've posted links to the compressed (gzipped) GIF files; the webpage (the following link) has a link to the non-compressed versions

The flipbooks and source code are here:

http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/circles.html#Interference_Patterns

L_Finston

I've made a couple more. These are the same as the last two, except that the former were made using a parallel projection, while these were made using the perspective projection (and the frames are slightly different).

http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/intrfr_4.gif.gz
http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/intrfr_5.gif.gz

The "flipbooks" are much smaller than the previous ones, because they no longer "cycle":

This is an example of a cycloid pattern, like the ones one can make with a Spirograph (if you have a very steady hand, lots of patience and the #!$%&? plastic disks don't slip). I never had much success with my Spirograph. Besides, the disks are really only suited for ball-point pens and ball-point pen ink looks lousy, in my opinion. Not that printer ink looks that great, but a solution to this problem would require more equipment than I can afford at present.

There are two many images for an animated GIF, so I've just posted a "flipbook".
This is a link to a PDF file:
http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/cycld_1.pdf

I've also posted the source code and compressed PDF and PostScript files on the webpage:

Great Stellated Dodecahedron --- Cardboard Model Plans.

Another set of plans for polyhedron models. Just bought some Bristol board to test this one. Possibly useful in stop-motion animation; perhaps something futuristic. If the sides are sewn rather than glued, it might be possible to open and close them using threads, or even with pulleys and springs, if one got ambitious.

PDF file:
http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/graphics/stgrddc1.pdf

The webpage (with the plans in PostScript format and compressed
versions of the PostScript and PDF files):

http://www.gnu.org/software/3dldf/polymodl.html#Great_Stellated_Dodec...

I haven't tested them myself yet, so any corrections or suggestions
would be much appreciated, as would any feedback.
