Hello everyone,
Happy New Year, with our best wishes for a productive and fulfilling 2007! :-) Here's the latest...
A CALL FOR FILMS!
Animation Co-op co-founders Moon Seun and Kevin Geiger will be speaking at the fmx/07 Conference on Animation, Effects, Realtime and Content (Kevin is also serving on the fmx advisory board). As part of their presentation on The Animation Co-op, Kevin and Moon would like to show work created by Animation Co-op members. Ideally, this would include excerpts from finished films, and also works-in-progress. The fmx conference is a very prestigious venue, and a great place to get exposure - especially for those of you who may want to "tease" with an upcoming project.
To find out more about fmx/07, check out their website at: http://www.fmx.de/
To submit your projects (finished or work-in-progress) for possible inclusion in The Animation Co-op presentation, please send DVD or CD-ROM to:

NEW PROJECTS!
There are three new projects listed in The Animation Co-op's online database (http://www.animationcoop.org/projects2.htm). Notably, these are paying gigs. :-) Check the database for contact info. Here are some additional details:
1.) My name is Leslie Ikemoto, and I am a graduate student in computer science. I am looking for an animator who is experienced with retargeting motion capture data (i.e., adapting motion capture data to fit new characters). The animator should be based in Austin, Texas. I am working on a research project to create a retargeting system that is easy and intuitive for artists to use, and that is scalable to large motion capture databases. For the project, I need an animator to help me create animations to test the system on. The job pays $20 per hour and will probably take about 4-5 hours.
2.) There are a few slots still available for talented Maya character animators to work on MeniThings' first theatrical feature film, 'Terra'. Criteria: Proficient in MAYA 7 3D. Rigging or LightWave skills are a plus but not essential. Ability to execute feature quality facial animation, lip synch and human character animation. Strong overall skill set. Ability to relocate to Los Angeles without assistance, or currently reside there. Available to start immediately. Available for the duration of the project, which completes in late summer 2007. We are looking for team players; energetic, resourceful and welcome the challenges and rewards of independent production. Preference given to Maya savvy Artists, although character animators proficient in any 3D software are welcome. Please submit work that clearly shows your ability to execute feature quality facial animation, lip synch and human character animation. Industry standard rates. Full screen credit that accurately reflects your contribution. 5 day work week.
3.) I have an 80 minute animation project that will be used for cell phone content. The animation will be broken into 90-120 second segments. I have a budget of 200k, and the principals of the project are ready to begin as soon as possible. The project is 2D animation. There will be a total of 4 animation projects to be done, as well as a additional 2 projects which are being currently developed. Please send me a link to a sample of your work. Thank you. Bryan Taylor
