Hey guys,
just wanted to say hey before i started going thru all the content that every1 is posting... a ton of it is either really inspiring or great advice. i will be graduating with a ba here pretty soon, and am really trying to see if i would be able to jump into some kind of job in animation.

this last semester ive really been getting into doing small 2D animations in Flash & AE. if anyone would be willing to take a look at my work and make suggestions of what would be demo worthy, or what i could try to work on to make it have more polish, then i would be much appreciative.

http://www.youtube.com/user/madgecko

its not a professional acct, i still have to get around to making a website & reel... but i would prefer to make something worthy of it before i put the time and effort into the packaging for the content, as it were :P

really my only professional experience has come from 6 months where i worked for Reel FX, a 3D studio in dallas, where i was a pa for open season 2 & tales of the black freighter (2d short that came out with Watchmen). was really eye opening to get to see a work flow on such a large scale.

got any tips for someone looking to make great work?
see you guys around

It is very likely that 'Planet 51' will not be shown at the Oscars. The animation was excellent, meeting the very high standard that feature movies must achieve. The plot line is another matter, altho for a child below the age of eight it is just fine.

To my eye, large blocks of a scene that had weak action where filled with Pans, Dallies, and close-ups. Character looking scared, laughing, or what ever emotion that was fit for the scene.

The animators did an excellent job of melding real world elements with those of a world that were made from plastic.

If they do choose to make another 'Planet 51', I hope they dial up the script to and age twelve or fourteen.

My name is Lex and I joined the forums to basically ask some questions and possibly get some help from the more experienced posters on here in regards to getting myself out there, breaking into the animation industry and the proper protocall for cover letters etc when cold calling or answering job offers.

I am a recent grad (BA in animation) and also certified in the completion of an ACA course with Norm Drew. I am looking for advice, or even someone to take me under their wing and help me find an entry level position within either an animation studio or advertising agency. If anyone is interested or kind enough to throw some advice my way please feel free to message me on here..I have a current demo reel that I would like some feedback on.
