Hi Ed, I've been doing some research on the internet and I stumbled across this forum and I see you're a teacher at Ringling. I'm interested in it, so I want to ask you this: what's the typical "level" of skills of a starting freshman?(as in, the portfolio they're applying with, the skills they already have).
(excuse my English mistakes C= )

I just saw your post and gave you an answer about Ringling. I hope it helps with that end of things.

Grad school is tricky because usually they are about working with what you know and expressing yourself through the art.

You are right about Gnomon and Animation Mentor when it comes to being a focused education but the AM education is great if animation is all you want to do or know. If you want to be more well rounded Ringling or a SCAD might be the way to go.

Hi Ed, saw your post and wanted to ask you a question for my daughter. She will graduate with a degree in Digital Arts from University of Cincinnati, probably in top 10% of class. Although there is some animation in her program, it really focuses on web design, Flash training, HTML, C++ and other digital applications. She, however, wants more training in animation and 3d animation at that. She has looked into Ringling, which would be a whole new bachelors or is considering some of the industry specific training such as Gnomon Institute, Animation Mentor etc or even going for an MFA in animation. Do you have any opinions on these options?

Thank you for any insight that you can give.

If you can, pleae email me at sandytaxman@comcast.net
