Default Visiting L.A.

Hi all,

I am a writer looking to work in animation and comedy. I'll be visiting the City of Angels for the first time later this month, and I'm just reaching out to you to see if there's anything that I can do while I'm there to be productive in meeting people, making contacts, etc. I do have a few meetings already set-up with friends and acquaintences, but am looking to pick a few brains with those that have made some headway (or aspiring to). Not many workshops or other industry events I've found between May 21 and May 25 so far.

Ideas are nice, but specifics are better!

Thanks!

You might want to try and look up information on shows currently in production that you like. If you're into action/adventure cartoons, Warner Bros has some stuff in the works. If you can manage to find the info of an artist on the show before you arrive, you might be able to invite them to lunch. Make sure to let them know that you're not trying to hound them for a job, and that you're just trying to get some info. If all goes well, you might get a contact out of it and get some feedback on your work.

Be sure to bring samples of your work, sun screen, and flip flops. Good eats at: Pizzeria Mozza, Guelaguetza, and Umami Burgers. Good luck!

Sound advice (especially the sunscreen). Thanks Tony!
