Lost Boys Learning is proud to announce the release of the latest Student Montage, featuring 59 visual effects and animation shots completed by the Class of 2006 and the current Class of 2007.

The reel opens and closes with a 3D flyover of London, created by students James Carver, Jessica Johnston and Patrick Switzer for a DVD menu option for the recent release of Disney's Peter Pan Platinum Edition DVD. Also included in the credits is a museum installation of a period piece recreation of the Comox Wharf circa 1917, created to commemorate Comox's 60th anniversary. For the visual effects shots including the flying saucers, spoons and insects, students and Mentor Mark Benard shot at locations all around the Comox Valley. Other projects include character modeling, ghosts, still life, logo creation and product shots, all executed with broadcast quality.

Lost Boys Owner and Mentor, Mark Benard, comments, "I am ecstatic with the calibre of work done so far. Project based learning allows the students to learn skills specific to their own personal aspirations while simultaneously creating valuable portfolio content. It's the natural way to learn."

Lost Boys Learning, an offshoot of acclaimed visual effects studio Lost Boys Studios, was formed in 2005 to offer 3D Animation and Visual Effects training in an intense, one-year program. More information can be found at www.lostboys-learning.com.

Credits: Carver, Johnston, Switzer and Abiola Onikoyi (Class of 2006); Christopher Bennett, TJ Fraser, Alex Lama, Angel Llamas, Dalen Martin and Poshin Wang (Class of 2007).

You have it right Phacker.

It's great how much more efficient things become when there aren't so many cooks in the kitchen. (Not to mention, customers in the restaurant!)

Instead of juggling 120 students all at varying levels of development (As with my past institution of employment.) I currently focus on a lucky 6.

My current crew has me 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, for 45 weeks straight.

Of course talk is cheap, so better to let the student montage demonstrate the strengths of this system.

Cheers,

M
